“Hey, Addie!  It says here that you can do Band for an afterschool activity!”

“Ok, mom, that sounds like fun.”

(2 weeks later)

“Mom, I’m playing triangle in the band at school!”

“That’s good, honey, but are you going to get another instrument too?”

“Yes, as soon as they are cleaned, I will get to pick a different one.”

(2 weeks later)

“Mom!  Look what I’m going to play in the band!…  its a trumpet!”

“Um…that’s…um…great, honey.”

But seriously, I’m happy that she picked an instrument.  And., as a bonus, she can actually get it to make noise of some sort, which is better than I can do.  I picked it up and blew into it and nothing came out.  I’m sure she will do great at it with practice, which will take place way up on the third floor in the bathroom with the doors closed… (so nobody can disturb her, of course!)  🙂

Like father, like daughter! Ask your dad, Addie, which really cute girl beat him out of his first chair trumpet seat in the Addison high school band.

Way to go, Addie! Your mom and i played a mean recorder in 5th grade. It’s every child’s right to play a loud instrument in the house.
